Biography
Prof Peng Liu is a Professor at Tsinghua University School of Medicine, specializing in microfluidics technology and its applications in biomedical analysis. Since the inception of microfluidic technology in the 1990s, various miniaturized and integrated microsystems have been developed and are poised to advance analytical tools in scientific study, and even to change our daily lives.
Aiming to bring microfluidics from laboratories to practical applications, Prof Liu's research focuses on the development of integrated and miniaturized microfluidic systems for high-performance genetic analysis, cell analysis, and laboratory automation. His work bridges the gap between fundamental microfluidic research and real-world clinical and forensic applications.
Prof Liu has made significant contributions to the development of portable and automated microsystems for DNA analysis, including groundbreaking work in forensic short tandem repeat (STR) analysis, clinical targeted DNA sequencing, and circulating tumor cell detection. His research has been published in top-tier journals including Lab on a Chip, Analytical Chemistry, and Trends in Biotechnology.
